Removable Dentures
WHAT ARE DENTURES?
Denture is a dental treatment where the dentist creates an alternative prosthesis of the teeth and gums in order to replace the missing function of the oral cavity. Some of its benefits are:
-
it supports you as you eat and chew
-
it helps you speak more clearly and;
-
it enhances your smile
WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF DENTURES?
Fixed Dentures
A crown is used to entirely cover or "cap" of a damaged tooth. Bridges on the other hand is recommended if you are missing more than one tooth. Both can improve your teeth's shape or alignment and give you a perfect smile.

Removable/Partial Dentures
There are two (2) types of removable denture: Complete/Full Denture and Partial Denture:
Complete/Full Denture is advisable for patients who loss all their teeth.
Partial Denture on the other hand is recommended for those who are missing only a few teeth.
Different materials or make of dentures are also available for patients: Ordinary and Flexite. The appearance between the two is not so distinct but they vary on the durability. Unlike the Ordinary Dentures, Flexite is more flexible and durable. It adjusts to the temperature of the food you take and does not break easily when you accidentally drop them.
Just like tooth brushes, dentures needs to be replaced too after a certain period. Ordinary Dentures should be replaced after two (2) years whereas Flexites should be replaced after five (5) years. The reason for this is because as people grow older, the gums recedes causing the denture to loosen its grip and alignment. So to ensure that this won't cause chewing and other problems later on, it is advisable that removable dentures should be updated as prescribed by your dentist.
